This dance form is the basis of all dance styles. Ballet teaches correct body placement while disciplining mind and body. With 13 curriculum levels of ballet, proper placement will ensure technical and motivational advancement.
A solid foundation of intermediate to advanced Ballet technique is required for Pointe work. The instructor will determine if a student is technically and physically capable of dancing on Pointe. Pointe classes may begin around age 12 with proper preparation.
Lyrical dance is a fusion of ballet, modern, and jazz dance styles. Lyrical Dance interprets the music accompaniment in an emotionally expressive way. The goal of a lyrical dancer is to use gesture, facial expression, and controlled movements in order to execute their movements and emotions fully. While lyrical dance choreography uses steps from ballet, modern, and jazz, it does not have the exactness of those techniques. Due to its demand for intermediate to advanced technical skill and emotional focus, it is popular primarily with teenage dancers.
Liturgical dance is dance that is incorporated into worship services. It is an expression of prayer or worship through body movement. This dance is generally fitted to the song's lyrics or to religious concepts which enhances the prayer or worship experience. This class is available to dancers ages 7 and older who are currently enrolled in a ballet class.
This class teaches timing, balance and rhythm with unique combinations and choreography that "breaks the mold" of routine tap classes. Students learn a variety of tap styles, including traditional, funky rhythm tap, Irish clogging and musical theater.
We offer the ultimate combination of ballet, hip-hop, lyrical and modern styles! Students will build great strength and performance ability through extensive combinations.
Cheer Dancers learn cheerleading chants, jumps, kicks, and stunts. Dancers learn stretching techniques that help stretch muscles so that fun flexibility skills can be performed. They also learn tight, popping jazz skills and choreography that will benefit them when trying out for dance teams or cheer squads. During the last portion of the class the girls learn fun choreography and combinations using poms. This class will perform one pom routine in the recital.
We offer a fun and funky fusion of Hip-Hop, Jazz, and Funk styles. This social or choreographed dance includes a wide range of styles notably breaking, locking, and popping. Hip hop dancing provides opportunities for the dancers to express their creativeness and individuality. Also, we feel that age appropriate music, costuming, and choreography is extremely important. Dancers who are in regular Ballet/Jazz/Tap combo classes will be given preferential placement in Hip Hop classes. Hip-Hop is available for ages 8 and up.
This beginning dance class is for 3-4 year old students. It introduces them to the basic positions and techniques of ballet and tumbling. In a fun and relaxed atmosphere students are given the opportunity to express their individuality through creative movement activities as well as singing and dancing.
Dancing is a fun way to stay fit and learn something challenging and new. Adult classes are available for ages 18 and up. All levels of skill and ability are welcomed in Adult classes. Jazz, Tap, and Dance Fitness classes are available for adults!
